Connect Meta Ads to SiteOps
Meta Ads is where your campaigns on Facebook and Instagram live. Every ad, its budget, its results and its bill sit inside an ad account, and that ad account sits inside a Business Manager — Meta's container for your Page, your Instagram account, your people and your permissions.
On its own, Meta's Ads Manager is a dense place with three levels of menus and numbers that take practice to read. SiteOps pulls out the ones a marketer actually decides with — spend, clicks, conversions and cost per customer — and puts them next to your traffic, revenue and other ad channels. You can also launch Reels campaigns straight from SiteOps, using the audience you already described for your project.
Connecting takes ten to fifteen minutes if Business Manager is already set up, longer if you are starting from zero or Meta asks to verify your business. This guide walks through every part, including the places people usually get stuck: which account to sign in with, where the ad account hides, and why verification matters before you spend.
One honest timing note beyond your own account: campaign management runs through SiteOps's own Meta Marketing API app, which Meta reviews once at the platform level (App Review plus business verification). That review is a SiteOps step, not something you do — but on a fresh app, launching campaigns may switch on a little after reporting does.

The consent screen, decoded — two scopes plus the asset picker If the list of ad accounts is empty, the profile you signed in with does not have full control of the business that owns them. Go back to step two rather than retrying the sign-in.
If something does not work
- The ad account does not appear in the Connect window
- The Facebook profile you signed in with does not have full control of the Business Manager that owns the ad account. Check Business settings, under People — you need the top access level, not employee access. If Meta asked during the sign-in which assets to share and you skipped the ad account, disconnect and connect again, allowing it this time.
- I connected, but the Ads view is empty
- First check that the ad account itself has activity — open Ads Manager and look at the same date range. A brand new account with no campaigns has nothing to show yet. If Ads Manager shows spend but SiteOps does not, you most likely picked a different ad account — compare the ID and reconnect if it does not match.
- Which key or token do I paste into SiteOps?
- None. The Meta connection is a Facebook sign-in, not a key. If you are holding a pixel ID, an app secret or an access token from Meta's developer site, none of those belong in SiteOps — the Connect button does everything.
- My Reels launch was rejected or will not start
- Three usual causes. The Instagram account is not connected to the business and linked to your Page — fix that in Business settings, under Accounts. The business is not verified and Meta is gating the feature — check the Security Center. Or Meta's ad review rejected the creative — open the campaign in Ads Manager to read the reason; policy rejections happen there, not in SiteOps.
- Spend in SiteOps does not match my invoice
- Meta bills in the ad account's currency and finalises numbers with a delay of up to two days, and invoices group spend by billing period, not calendar days. Compare a finished week in SiteOps against the same dates in Ads Manager — those should match. If they still disagree, check that both are looking at the same ad account and time zone.
