The Business Profile is the panel local customers actually see: it comes up on Google Maps and in search before your website does. For a local business it is less a social network and more the storefront window — and most windows sit empty.
Connecting it to SiteOps gives you a local post channel: What's-new updates written like your other posts, up to 1 500 characters, with an optional photo and a link button. Drafts wait for your review like everything else; approved posts take a Calendar slot and publish to the profile.

The channel also reads back the part local businesses care about most: reviews. Your star rating and review count land next to the marketing numbers, so a dip is something you notice the day it starts — not the month a customer mentions it.
One honest timing note: Google gates its Business Profile API behind a one-time access request that SiteOps files at the platform level, and Google's turnaround on it is slow and uneven. That request is a SiteOps step, not something you do — but on a fresh app, local posting and review reads may take a while to switch on while Google grants the access.

Publishing fails with a policy error
Google reviews local posts against its content policy and rejects what looks like pure advertising — all-caps, too many exclamation marks, phone numbers in the text. Keep the plain, useful tone the drafts arrive with and rejections are rare.
My profile doesn't appear during connect
You are likely signed into the wrong Google account, or your role on the profile is too low. Only owners and managers can connect publishing — check your role at business.google.com under People and access.
The rating differs from what I see on Maps
SiteOps snapshots the rating on a schedule, so a review that landed an hour ago may not be counted yet. If the gap persists past a day, disconnect and reconnect to force a fresh read.
Can SiteOps reply to reviews?
No — deliberately. Review replies are your voice to a real customer and stay in Google's interface. SiteOps reads the numbers so you notice movement; the conversation is yours.
Do local posts expire?
Google archives What's-new posts from the prominent card after six months (event posts expire with their date). That is Google's behavior, not a disconnection — keep a rhythm of fresh posts and the card stays alive.
