Connect YouTube to SiteOps
Every video your brand makes eventually wants a home on YouTube. Connect the channel once and the videos you approve in the review queue go out as Shorts, and the views they collect flow back into your dashboard every day.
The connection works through a normal Google sign-in. You do not paste any keys or codes — you sign in once, approve two permissions, and SiteOps holds on to that approval. You can take it away at any time from your Google account.
One honest timing note: while our own app clears YouTube's compliance audit for public uploads — a one-time review on Google's side that can take a few weeks — new Shorts may publish as private until it lands. That is a platform step we handle for everyone, not something you set up, and view counts read fine either way.
This guide walks through the whole thing: making sure the brand has its own channel, getting through the Google consent screen, and what to check when the first videos and view counts arrive.
What a YouTube Short carries
YouTube is a video channel, so what goes out is a Short — a vertical clip with a short title. A text-only idea aimed at YouTube in the Posts tab is turned into a Short automatically; there is no separate text post on the channel's Community tab, because YouTube's API does not let any tool publish or read those. Every Short waits for your review like anything else.

What lands on the channel — a Short with its 100-character title New channels have a small daily upload quota. If you approve several videos at once, SiteOps publishes what the quota allows and queues the rest for the next day — that is normal.
If something does not work
- I connected, but the Social card shows no views
- View counts refresh once a day, so a fresh connection can look empty for up to 24 hours. Also check that the connected channel actually has published videos — SiteOps shows views for videos on the connected channel, and a brand-new channel starts at zero.
- Videos are queued instead of publishing
- New channels have a small daily upload quota on YouTube's side. SiteOps respects it: it publishes what fits today and sends the rest tomorrow, automatically. Verifying the channel by phone (step 2) raises the limits.
- The video went to my personal channel
- You picked the wrong account or channel during the Google sign-in. In SiteOps settings, disconnect YouTube and connect again — this time choose the brand channel in Google's chooser. Delete the misplaced video from your personal channel in YouTube Studio.
- Which key or code do I paste into SiteOps?
- None. YouTube connects through Google sign-in only — there is no API key to copy. If you are looking at a page in Google Cloud asking about keys, you have wandered too far; close it and press Connect in SiteOps instead.
- Publishing fails with a permissions error
- The upload permission was probably left unticked on the consent screen, or the signed-in account is not a manager of the channel. Disconnect, press Connect again, make sure both checkboxes on Google's screen are ticked, and confirm you manage the channel (step 3).
